One of my projects in the 1980's when the Citizen Band was in full swing ..There was always a problem when you had a large group on a CB channel
and you would end up talking over each other when you did not know that the person talking has stopped transmitting ..It was always a bad habit that some users where very quick on their PTT (push to Talk) and ended overriding someone else that had not ended their conversation ..
We used to asked the quick trigger happy cowboys to leave a 3 second break to give the breaker stations a change to get in..
With the Way that Citizen Band chats worked was who it the quickest on the PTT and say what you wanted to say ..In the amateur radio groups it was
either a round table or net controller that called in the members and passed it over with call signs ..In the CB chat groups it was a different and
not such a organized round table kind of order system and needed a roger bleep at the end of the transmission so you knew when the person transmission ended.
The specific inventor of the Roger Beep system is well-documented. The concept of using a beep to signal the end of a transmission became popular among CB and amateur radio operators in the 1970s and 1980s. It was likely developed by multiple individuals and manufacturers to improve communication clarity in noisy environments.
