1_Stereo_Encoder Project Idea. May 1977

It was in the days when there was still the Veldskoen Drive-in before it closed in  June 2012 a friend of mine Pieter Venter ZS6BYZ requested a FM transmitter and Stereo encoder for replacing the old 

clip on speakers that where either broken or faulty and where later removed ..So they needed to get the audio from the 32mm projectors to be transmitted to your car radio..

This was a last attempt to save the drive-in outdoor movie scene. I cannot remember  but it was a very low power basic design FM stereo Transmitter with this Stereo Encoder that I found and build for this drive-in ..It was transmitting between 88-108 MHz Wideband FM with a stereo input and pilot tone..so you could activate the Stereo light even though not every film they showed was stereo ..But with the later films it gave you excellent audio quality and real 2 demential sound with your car sound system …

Not a easy project building and understanding the principle of stereo sound generation .. Sadly the Drive-ins where all coming to a end with other technology's replacing the 32mm projectors and maybe it was not safe anymore to sit in a open area with your windows open ..more info regarding drive-in treaters..in this article.
